The Humanoid part II

The Philosophy behind Diameter of RBC.

It was our first class in our new alma mater. SCB Medical College was synonymous with medical teaching in my part of earth.

It was the lecture 1 on physiology. The first line of that sermon was ( A singular statement of fact in my medical education which I cannot forget) – the diameter of a RBC is 7.2, but it varies from 6.7 to 7.7.

In my school I was fastest in mental math, often calculating the answer of any mental math problem before the question was completed. My registry in brain is definitely differently wired. I had also topped in my university in math that year to clock as the only fellow from Biology stream in the top ten along with nine other math and computer whiz kids.
My mathematically exact brain was confused. How can the length of an object vary from 6.7 to 7.7 ? Can the Diameter of a disc vary ? In our physiology this concept of average was all pervasive. For example, if we average out all the breasts and testicles among all the human beings, every human on this earth would have one breast and one testicle each on an average. How can it be a fact ? I had to grapple with this rule of average throught my first year.

As a humanoid I never take help from any senior or anybody living except the inanimate books. Somehow I am never comfortable with living beings. it took me one good year to comprehend the philosophy behind the diameter of RBC. That was precious time lost. In stead, I started dabbling in literature, philosophy. Since I was not a human being, I could not drop the idea of leaving SCB. A task registered in my queue must be ticked off, come what may. So with super human effort, I formatted all the mathematical precisions ingrained in my system and installed fresh medical software. it consumed lot of humanoid resources and time. Finally the humanoid has adapted at the cost of extra bytes of emotion. But by this time two MBBS examinations were over. And my friends have progressed much ahead of me in social and emotional management. Some had established stable love relationships and were doing couple study.

But I remained the single, adamant humanoid. No human emotions, no love, not an average doctor. An emotionless, infomaniac data bank.

  1. Sir, in higher mathematics, for example , in calculus and allied discipline , we usually extend the limit of function and get the value on the range from zero to infinity . Moreover, it is not so accurate to measure anything in exact terms, because, we don’t have a Fixed Feane of Reference. The calculations made by “The Nature” for living beings is not only more accurate , but catered to/customised to , the specific requirement of that living being also.
