It is exactly one month ago, the world is inundated with the Covid-19 infection. Hospital beds had become scarce, ICUs were full and health care system was on the verge of paralysis. Today, exactly one month after, the global number of new cases have fallen drastically except in a hand full of countries like Germany, Eastern European and West Pacific nations. It’s time to review the case numbers in our this edition of pandemic statistics update.
There is a global fall of case numbers since 20th January 2022.
It has uniformly decreased the world over, India as a whole and also Odisha as a unit.
Exactly one month is over. time for a review.

That brings us to a strange conclusion. While the daily new cases in the Indian subcontinent have fallen drastically, nations like Japan,Singapore, South Korea and Hong Kong are reeling under a new wave. hospital beds have become scarce. Restrictions have returned. These countries are beacons in infection control, public awareness and strong government initiatives. yet they seem to be helpless in front of this virus. It seems the wave of virus that has reached them late will also come down on its own but late.
This virus still remains an enigma. Our ignorance regarding the epidemiology of this virus has not improved in these two years.
