Almost all of our Coronavirus Vaccines ( Except the Covaxin) target the spike protein of the virus.
Spike protein is the key, by which the Covid-19 virus opens the door of our Lung cells and enters. Any vaccine that will block the spike will essentially stop the intrusion. So we have prepared a copy of the spike protein in our laboratory.
But then how do we deliver it inside the human bodies ?
One of the methods is booking a special courier capable of entering human cells. It takes a thief to catch a thief. So it is another virus. Adenovirus is booked for delivery of the consignment that will eventually destroy the Coronavirus. Initially we help them enter into our body. Once inside the human body, these viruses can easily intrude into a cell. They have the biometrics to enter even into the nucleus where the deepest secrets of life are stored.
Adenoviruses are seasoned couriers. We have been using them earlier to deliver deadly drugs deep into the core of Cancerous tumours.
why the Adenoviruses agrees is a different matter, but they do not come cheap.
Once inside our body, the virus starts booking the CAR to visit its lady love- our platelets. They have a fancy for the tiny little platelets. Platelets in our body have the important duty to keep our blood fluid. But once the affair between adenovirus virus and lady platelet starts, the girl absconds from duty. Platelet count can fall and blood can clot here and there.
One example is the CVST Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis that can be a rare complications of any Adenovirus Vector Vaccine.
