Changing faces of a Pandemic.

On 16th September, we, in India were logging 90k new covid cases per day. We simply had no Clue about what to do.
We were told, “Look at South Korea an icon for containing Covid-19.”
By February, 2021, our numbers fell to 10k new cases/ day.
Vaccination has been going on for more than one month. Lockdown is on. That’s fantastic.

Then the surge came, the like of which we had never imagined.
May, 2021, India is logging 400K new cases/day – an all time world record.

What went wrong?

The opposition blamed the Kumbh Mela. Some blamed the WB election. As per government, they went after public blaming it on *poor mask usage* and lack of Covid Appropriate Behaviour among the poor vegetable vendors and daily wagers.

They said, *Ah I told you So, ain’t it ?*

By June, the daily cases again fell to 40K/day.

At the same time In June, the highest case rise was in African nations in spite of under estimation of cases. Vaccination is lowest in Africa.
“You see vaccination had the effect”. The think tanks gloated.

Then something strange happened.

While the cases in Africa started declining without any apparent reasons, the graphs of USA peaked north. As on date, USA has the highest vaccination penetration and also the *highest case increase rate*. Masks have been mandated and Covid testing is mandatory if you are exposed irrespective of vaccination status. Contact Quarantine has returned to USA irrespective of vaccinated status.

People in USA started asking,’What good is being vaccinated ?’

In spite of all this, *UK opened up*. Anthony Faucci was aghast.
“Oh No! UK is committing suicide.”

True to the prediction, UK climbed to the top in the daily new case rate two days after their freedom day.

Then suddenly cases in UK plummeted to below 20K/day._
Surprise of surprise.
Can someone explain the reason?

The South Korea, the Icon of last year had no Clues today how to control its own surge. Neither the Indonesians and other neighbourhoods.

Covid Appropriate Behaviour of million Indians seem to be waxing and waning exactly with the drop and surge of the virus. Who follows who ? So synchronous we are. Aren’t we ?

What has happened to our Herd immunity ? Are we still short of the exposure level good enough to reach that magic number ?

Conclusion

There is another Olympic going on between the Viruses and Sapiens. The result of the first two rounds are oot. It looks like the Sapiens have no clue about the Game plan of the Viruses.

Their Star player Delta is in the crease and going steady.

Let us see how quickly our CDC, Chinese think tank can read them ?
