Gain Of Function

“Gain of Function” explained.

Source: National Academy of Medical Sciences

Following a Genetic modification a virus can lose some function or gain some function.

Example: A crop can become high yielding or a seed can be drought resistant after such modifications.

Number of publication on Viral modifications have come down recently

Loss of Function:

Best example is the Live Polio vaccine. In the laboratory set up live Polio virus is modified to lose it’s virulence.

Gain of Function

– In 2014, while modifying an influenza virus in US, the virus gained and became airborne. Alarmed, US Government restricted all such experiments since 2015.

Undeterred the biggest fund allocator of US, HHS ( Health and Human Services) clandestinely pumped huge fund in to Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) for continuing Genetic modification of SARS virus. Fauci was part of the decision making.

Ordinary Sars virus is a bat virus. It’s genetically impossible to make the virus enter a human host in laboratory. It’s like making a dog give birth to a human child. But in WIV they had succeeded in doing the impossible. The last major international paper published from WIV demonstratted introduction of coronavirus successfully into a live monkey. That is the last international paper published from WIV on Coronavirus.

After that, the project was wound up and international researchers from US, France returned home.
