Wuhan, the capital of the Hubei Province in China is one of the country’s largest industrial hubs with a population of 1.1 crores and has one of world’s most advanced virology lab.
December 2019 :-
People in Wuhan were aware of a new infection spreading among residents. Soon ICU beds in the central hospital got filled with unknown pneumonia cases.
Those 8 words that spelled doom.
A central official team came to Wuhan for investigation. Its head Dr Wang proclaimed only 8 words before departure.
The virus is “not contagious between people, it’s controllable and preventable“.
The national TV repeated this message on and on till New year.
New Year’s day
Government organised a banquet for 40000 to celebrate that new year. Life was normal as usually in this large industrial town.
23rd January 2020
(the Chinese New Year day) Government suddenly put the 11 million people of city on lockdown. This was a bolt from blue.
The lockdown continued for 76 days.
6th February 2020
City’s most famous doctor succumbed to the virus. Dr. Li Wenliang had warned people about the virus early on; he was then silenced by the Chinese government.
7th March 2020
There were fewer than a 100 new cases.
19th March 2020
There were no new cases of infection in Wuhan for the first time ever.
8th April 2020
Wuhan officially reopened.
