The Lion Cub & the Eagle stories

Story – 1

The Lion cub among the sheep.

One day, a farmer was walking through a jungle and he came across a tiny lion cub that had been lost.

He picked it up, brought it home, and put it in the barn with his sheep. As time passed, the cub got bigger and bigger, playing and grazing with the sheep. He would bleat like a sheep, he’d eat grass like a sheep.

One day, while the sheep were grazing, a big lion stepped out from the jungle. All the sheep got scared and started running around, and so did the little lion.

The big lion went over to this little lion and said, “Why are you scared of me?”

And the little lion cried in pity, “Have mercy on me. Don’t eat me. Have mercy on me.”

But the king of the forest caught hold of him, “You’re not a sheep. Come with me.” He took him to a Pond and said, “Now, look.”

And when the little lion looked, he saw his image. Then he looked at the big lion, and he looked in the water again, and he let out a mighty roar. He was never a sheep again.

It took only one minute.
So the big lion roared and the little lion roared. And all the sheep ran away.
….
What is it that still holding the “mighty roar” trapped within you?
Have you found your Pond ?

Story -2

The Eagle among the chicken.

One day an earthquake rocked the mountain causing one of the eggs in an eagle nest to roll down the mountain. It landed in a chicken farm.

An old hen volunteered to nurture and raise the large egg. Finally the egg hatched and a beautiful eagle was born. It was brought up along with other chicks and did what the other chicken did. It scratched in the dirt for seeds. It clucked and crackled.

But it never flew more than a few feet because that is what the other chickens did. The eagle loved the flock of chicken.

One day he looked to the sky above and noticed an eagle soaring gracefully and majestically in the skies.

He asked the chickens: “what is that beautiful bird?”
The chickens replied, “That is an eagle. He is an outstanding bird, but you cannot fly like him because you are just a chicken.”

So the eagle never gave it a second thought. He lived the life of a chicken for the rest of his life and died like a chicken.
