We all have hidden treasures we don’t know. All we need is to bring them to surface and use them to our advantage.
A 10-year old boy decided to learn judo, despite the fact that he had lost his left arm in a devastating car accident.
The boy began lessons with an old Japanese judo master. He was doing well, but couldn’t understand why after three months of training, the master had taught him only one move.
“Sensei” the boy finally said, “Should I not be learning more moves?”
“This is the only move you know” replied the Sensei…
… “And this is the only move you will ever NEED to know.”
Not quite understanding, but believing in his teacher, the boy kept training.
Few months later, the Sensei took the boy to his first tournament. Surprising himself, he won the tournament easily.
…
On the way back he asked,
“Sensei, how did I win the tournament with only one move?”
“You won for two reasons,” the Sensei answered,
1- You have mastered one of the most difficult throws in all of judo
And
2 – The only known defense for that move for your opponent, was to grab your left arm. It was not there.”
The left arm that he had lost, was his greatest blessing.
Moral:
We all have hidden treasures we don’t know. All we need is to bring them to surface and use them to our advantage.
