The story of the Prophet.

The story behind the Prophet.

The disciples of ‘Abdul I- Baha’ had booked a first class ticket from Europe to US for him in the ill fated Titanic.
But ‘Abdul I- Baha’ told his followers to cancel the luxury ticket, instead to donate the money to charity.

Thus ‘Abdul I- Baha’ reached new York safely when the Titanic sunk and the world got ‘The Prophet’.

How?

There, in New York waiting eagerly for him was one of his most famous students. Kahlil Gibran was a small time poet before that. But that chance meeting with Abdul I-Baha influenced him so much that his poems attained the surreal quality for which he was so famous.

Shortly after this meeting, Gibran penned his now famous collection “The Prophet”.

Today it is translated into more than forty languages, is one of the bestselling books of the twentieth century in the United States.

Gibran is the third best-selling poet of all time, behind Shakespeare and Lao-Tzu.
