The “When” moments.

Western culture provides a lot of “How to do ” books. But our almanac always recommends “when to do” any important thing. It seems they are quite accurate.

We don’t perform or feel the same way at every given moment of a given day.

Our mood fluctuates throughout the day. It’s a cycle that moves from a Peak to a slow Trough and then Recovery.

Accordingly there are three types of personality.

  1. The Larks or the early people who are at peak, early in the morning.
2. But the Owls or night people experience the cycle in a reverse order. They peak as the night progresses and hit the trough in the day.
3. There is a Third Bird in between also.

Our performance follows our mood. Administrative tasks are best, when done in the trough.

At least we shouldn’t fritter away our peak time with simple, mundane tasks. If you are an early morning bird, prepare your to-do list in the previous night.
