Future of Male Chauvinism

Women have a primeval urge to hang on to wealthy men to provide for their children during the long period of pregnancy and childrearing.

   In one Danish study, husbands whose wives out-earned them were found to suffer from erectile dysfunction more.

   Reason: the loss of breadwinner status somehow is related to impotence.

  Traditionally while men want a young, attractive partner of the opposite sex, women are more likely to prioritise money and status over youth and beauty. Why?

  Evolution Psychologist would say that women have a primeval urge to hang on to wealthy men to provide for their children during the long period of pregnancy and childrearing. In case of ladies, Evolution is mostly concerned about fertility, for which beauty and youth can be helpful cues.

Women will have to make room for  breastfeeding and child birth – an activity that’s energy-intensive, time-consuming, and quite difficult to integrate with paid work and career progression.

It’s an undeniable fact.

The implication is that women still seek to replace this anticipated loss of income by choosing husbands with good earning prospects. This is the sexual strategies used by our ancestors that we are reflexly operating till today. I will call it Darwinian evolutionary sexual strategy.

But what will happen to this strategy in the future.

An example:

My grandma had 20 conceptions of which only three survived till adulthood. She had to sacrifice 20 good years of her youth in child bearing and rearing. Where is the  free time to gather her own sustenance ? Result, she was totally dependent upon her in law’s house for herself and her kids.

That scenario has changed now. With advances in reproductive medicine, we have limited the child bearing to one per woman with guaranteed adulthood. The time and place is as per her will, not any body else in the world.

  By regulation, we have already structured 2 and half years of guaranteed leave into the jobs for women. Another 2 and half, and our women can delete the fear of time loss due to child rearing from their career graph.

So I can imagine in another decade, we will have dainty boys hanging from the hem of powerful  charismatic lady.

Mr Darwin then will not be able to stop the evolution of  sexual strategy in the opposite direction.

 Will LCB (Lady Chauvinist) replace MCP then ?
