Nobody sends insects on Valentine’s day. Because, insects have to be ugly and flowers beautiful.
A doctor married a nurse. Their child goes to school. On the first day, the teacher asks, “So, your father is a doctor ?”
..The child says,” No”.
..The teacher was surprised. “But you are one of the doctors’ kids here. Aren’t you ?”
..”Yes but My mother’s the doctor.”
The teacher was stumped.
…. ….
Psychologist in UCLA call it the ‘Implicit Bias’. We are biased that the nurse must be a lady. Hence the father must be the doctor.
If you’re asked to match the following pairs of words the bias is obvious.
“Flower & insect” with “lovely & ugly”
“Dancer & soldier” :: “She & He”.
So on..
Because nobody sends insects on Valentine’s day. Nobody in a hospital bed expects to be sponged by a male nurse.
Certain jobs are kept aside for ladies, others are taboo for them, though no progressive society will declare so in open. But the subconscious persists in it’s right brain. Something so obvious but not admitted in open.
However progressive an Indian male may proclaim himself to be, but years of cultural bias has saturated his right brain so much that, and as long as his corpus callosum is intact to transfer this bias to his whole system, he will always imagine an young nurse to be petite and beautiful and of course feminine.
