Charaiveti, Charaiveti

Charaiveti, Charaiveti.
( Aitareya Brahman)
Move on, Move on.

Sometimes change can be exciting. Sometimes it can be frustrating. And sometimes it can be scary and terrifying. Yet change can be a wonderful thing, if only we welcome, introspect, appreciate and learn from it.

Lord Buddha used to conclude his discourses & sermons everyday with these words: Charaiveti, Charaiveti. What an inspiring way to close your talk.

So also the Aiterya Brahman tells us,

चरन् वै मधु विन्दति,

चरन् स्वादुम् उदुम्बरम्,

सूर्यस्य पश्य श्रेमाणं

यः चरन् न तन्द्रयते,

चर एव इति ।

– Aitareya Brahmana, 7.15.5

In English letters, it will read

"Charanbai madhu vindati
charantsvadu mudambaram…
Suryasya pasya sreemanam
yo na tandrayate charan…
Charaiveti, charaiveti.”

Aitareya Brahmana, 7.15.5

Here is a simple english translation of this very ancient Indian mantra:( I beg the pardon from the vedic scholars to dare to translate such a profound thought)

” The honey bee in its motion, collects honey.
Birds enjoy tasty fruits by constant movement.
The sun is revered, because of its constant movement.
So also, one should be constantly in motion. Keep moving, keep moving on!”

  • In the journey of life, we must go through ups and downs, Success and failure, because
    • Change is inevitable.
    • Change is the only constant in our life.

CHARAIVETI, CHARAIVETI !!

  • Move on, Move on!
  • March along, March along!!!
