KIMCHI WAR

KIMCHI is a traditional Korean dish

Remember Kimchi noodles. Kimchi is a popular flavour of noodle in Indian market. But Kimchi actually is a scrumptious Korean dish made up of fermentation of vegetables like cabbage and radish with a wide selection of flavourful seasonings. But recently there is a proprietorship war between China and Korea on this world famous dish. something like GI tag of Rasogola between Odisha and Bengal.

Popular Noodle

KIMCHI is a hallowed dish for Koreans. It is a grandma’s hand cooked staple for each and every Korean, just like our Podapitha for the coastal Odisha.

Traditionally, the Koreans have an annual ritual of making it, known as Kimjang something like our Raja festival or Nuakhai. Unesco has listed Kimchi as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Koreans

Enters China.

But then any thing that gets international recognition can be added with a “made in china” tag. Kimchi is mass produced in Sanghai. It has so much demand with the Koreans that South Korea imports large amounts of kimchi from producers in China.

China has renamed it as the Chinese Kimchi. South Korea is not taking this with hands down. A wide social and political confrontation between China and Korea follows it.
