What is happening in Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and South Korea ?
| Country | Population ( in lakh) | Total New cases ( on 27.02.22) | New cases (per one lakh population) |
| South Korea | 513 | 166,206 | 323 |
| Singapore | 59 | 16,857 | 285 |
| Hong Kong | 75 | 17,053 | 227 |
| Japan | 1,258 | 65,196 | 52 |
| India | 14,024 | 10,273 | 0.7 |
These are countries noted for their perfect Covid-19 control measures. Their Citizens are educated and compliant. Government is proactive. In the last two waves, these nations were considered to be ideals to be followed by other nations.
Yet, today South Korea has the highest new cases per day per lakh of population followed by Singapore and Hong Kong. Even Japan’s daily new cases are 70 times that of India. what best practices that Indians observed which the astute Caps failed to follow.
How to explain such anomalies.
This Virus remains an enigma even after 2 years.
I feel, we are as ignorant about this virus as we were 2 years ago. yet, this virus has taught us the scientists and the public a great lesson.
For the first time,
the Public, Politicians and Print-electronic media people had a real-time encounter with the cutting edge of Science ( Vaccine, Virology, Immunology) as together we all fought tooth and nail against this miniature devil.
in the last 2 years we have tried some uncertain drugs like Ivermectin, Hydroxy chloroquine only to discard them. last year, we had boasted that our vaccines would have 95% protection against the virus only to realise that this virus had run through our vaccine mediated defence like a knife in the butter.
Here are my 5 questions to you.
- Mysterious Source ?
- What may be the source of this virus: Whether it’s a lab leak or a wild mutation in a natural virus ?
- Is it an engineered virus in some unknown lab ?
- Why does the virus affect different people differently ?
- Some humans are extremely vulnerable while few of us are totally resistant to it ?
- What are the markers of susceptibility ?
- Waning immunity ?
- How long the immunity persists after recovery from an attack ?
- Why immunity following Covid-19 infection wanes so quickly ?
- Any more variants ?
- Have we seen the end of this virus or will there be another virulent variant turning in yet another deadly wave in the near future ?
- How many doses of Vaccine are adequate ?
- I sincerely believe that the standard schedule of a Covid-19 jab should be a 3 dose serial not 2.
The standard schedule of a Covid-19 jab should be at “0 , 1 month and 6 months interval.”
