Bollywood: little Known facts

A Cinema poster of Alam Ara:
India’s first talkie movie Alam Ara was released on 14 March 1931.
Shows were fully sold weeks ago.
In those days a regular ticket costed 4 Anna. It was sold at 10 times of normal rate in black. Prithviraj Kapoor played villa in the movie
There was no facility of playback singing in the 1930s. The video was recorded live with the actors themselves singing the song during the play. The studio was situated adjacent to bombay’s train line with trains plying from early morning till mid night. Hence the whole film was video-graphed between 1 am to 4 am every night, so that there will be no interference from running trains.
