Why do we sleep ?

👆🏾This is a beautiful image of our Lymphatic system.
It is the route map of our body’s sewers and drains.
But wait!
Something is missing. _What about the waste disposal of our brain._

We know that our cells are delivered their daily quota of nutrition and oxygen by the blood. This naturally generates a lot of cellular waste. The Lymphatic system is our body’s waste disposal system.

Brain is the most active part of our body. And yes it generates a huge quanta of waste also like *Amyloid beta* .

Up till now we didn’t know the solution. We knew Cerebro Spinal Fluid ( *CSF*) must be playing some part in the solution. But we didn’t know how? ( CSF is the water bed which surrounds and cushions our soft brain matter and saves it during trauma.

Recent mice studies have revealed that CSF really clears the amyloid beta but *only during sleep*. As we fall into deep sleep and most of our nerve cells take rest, the daily maintenance of our brain starts.

In some exciting experiments, Sleep Deprived mice are seen to accumulate large quantity of Amyloid Beta in their brain.

Our CSF can wash out all the Amyloid Beta that we have generated in the day time. But under one condition. It will work during sleep only.
_No wonder a good night’s sleep clears our mind._

Friends,
Sleep is the brain’s solution to waste clearance.
Lack of sleep leads to accumulation of Amyloid Beta.
*Amyloid Beta causes Alzheimer’s disease*.

This is one good reason to get a good night’s sleep.
